Yale University Yale was founded in 1701 and is located in New Haven, Connecticut. Its endowment is second only to Harvard for largest in the world. Yale ranks as the 3rd best in the nation in the U.S. News and World Report Rankings, trailing only Harvard and Princeton. The school has received high marks for its faculty and numerous undergraduate programs. Math, natural sciences, and agricultural sciences stand out in rankings by many different organizations. Notable alumni include Presidents William Howard Taft, Gerald Ford, Bill Clinton, George H. W. Bush, and his son George W. Bush. Actresses Meryl Streep and Jodie Foster are also graduates.
